What is conference calling? Basically a conference call allows participants to attend a meeting without the need of being physically present during that meeting. Almost all corporations use conference calling simply because it allows meeting participation without the expense of traveling. Operator Assisted Conference Calling:
This method tends to be more expensive. An operator essentially acts as a moderator and can provide such features as sub-conferencing, broadcasting, and recording if desired. This type of conference calling requires a scheduled time and a reservation. -
Operator Dialed Conference Calling:
This type of conference calling allows for more interaction of the participants. An operator will call each participant at a predetermined time and add them to the conference call. The operator here can also provide additional services such as language translation if desired. -
Web Conference Calling:
This requires the use of software and requires that the individual who sets it up has a complete knowledge of the software being used, or at least technical support available if needed. A webinar is a type of web conference calling. A typical webinar is a one way presentation, but they can be set up so that the participants can call in and participate if needed.
There is also conference calling which can be set up on a business line which involves two or three people. You can check with your service provider to see if they have this feature.
